Love Stories

Kaitlynn+ Jack

Jack and I met in chemistry class shortly after I moved to Montana.  We had two classes together, and one day, out of nowhere, he winked at me. I pointed at myself to make sure he was actually winking at me, and he nodded yes. After that, we started talking every day in class, pretty much the entire class period! Jack was very quiet and didn’t talk much to other people, but he was definitely not quiet with me. I could also tell pretty quickly that he was smart because he always seemed to know the answer to everything.

Five years later, we are still traveling, laughing, and making memories together. About a year into our relationship, after we graduated, we decided to move to Alabama, where I am from. We drove the entire way together, and while Jack did most of the driving, the one hour I decided to drive was when our tire popped! We ended up sitting on the side of the road for an hour in the pouring rain waiting for roadside assistance, watching the only movie Jack had in his truck, Norbit. Somehow, that became one of our favorite memories from the trip.

Jack proposed on the last day of a trip to Panama City Beach, which made it even more special because my grandparents used to take my sister and me there every summer, and we made so many wonderful memories there together. They are no longer with us, so having Jack choose that place meant so much to me. We were walking on the beach at sunset when we started talking about how much we loved each other. I pulled out my phone to take a picture of the moon, and when I turned around, Jack was down on one knee. Instead of a traditional ring, he proposed with a Ring Pop! A Ring Pop had been an inside joke between us since our first Christmas together, when I made him a picture box filled with our favorite memories. In the very center was a little box, and I didn’t know what to put inside, so my dad suggested a Ring Pop. When Jack opened it, he joked that one day he was going to propose to me with one, and years later, he actually did! After I said yes, he told me that the real ring was waiting for me at home.

Now, as we get ready to celebrate our wedding at Wildflower, we are most excited about finally getting married and becoming one. I am especially excited to officially have his last name, and we cannot wait to celebrate this next chapter with our family and friends while taking in the beautiful view and making another memory we will never forget.
